SAP Screen Personas  - "Personalization without Programming"

Simple, Drag and Drop approach to modify many common SAP GUI screens 

SAP is developed and has released a new GUI customization tool currently known as Personas or SAP Screen Personas. Personas allows IT departments and even individual SAP users to customize their screen layouts in the SAP GUI through an intuitive drag-and-drop interface.

SAP Screen Personas 1.0 has been released on Dec. 7th, 2012.

Vishal explained the importance of design and user experience. He used SAP Screen Personas as one example of how SAP is innovating to address customer needs in this area.

SAP Personas was designed to be easy for a user without any technical knowledge of SAP or ABAP to customize SAP views. Its really Simple, Drag and Drop approach.

SAP TechEd People:Sumeet Banodkar,Unilever

Customers, partners, SAP Employees and the person who is inside in SAP TechEd for a chance to talk to the industry’s brightest minds. It’s called SAP TechEd People Event.

Mr.Sumeet Banodkar, IT manager at Hindustan Unilever came to SAP TechEd Bangalore to learn more about SAP’s innovations and shared his experience..

He has developed a Genii tool along with two SAP guys and his team was presented their demo, one out of top seven teams. The aim of Genii - Knowledge based export support system was to trace the answer automatically from the input getting based on the customer questions. A very interesting one which i had never seen before.

He is very much exciting to learn the new things from all SAP innovative areas and last thing he shared as Unilever be in this world with SAP's latest technology and  Unilever Hindustan deployed SAP HANA to Speeds up Unilever Business process  as he added.

FMCG giant Unilever's Global HANA Roll-out

For the initiative Unilever's European HANA roll-out is set to begin in January 2013.It is expected to roll-out the following HANA accelerators:

• Cost of Profitability Analysis Accelerator – enables managers to visualise cost and profit drivers, even when working with large volumes of financial data. 
• Material Ledger Accelerator – accelerates material-ledger period-end closings and drill-down reports.
• Finance and Controlling Accelerator – helps the finance department accelerate period-end closes and reporting while unlocking opportunities to improve financial performance.
• Automatic real-time Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) – speeds up OEE calculations, which are used to identify cost reduction opportunities.
• Trade Promotion Management – improves the granularity of promotional planning data by providing instant access to daily sales, shipment, volume and cost data.

Thomas Benthien, Director at Unilever's ERP centre of excellence said this will lead to an increase in database transactions and our company expects to double its turnover from €40bn to €80bn by 2020.

We believed HANA Speeds up Unilever Business process by enabling Unilever to reduce the time it takes to process 200 million records from 440 seconds to just 30 second & 30,000 transactions per minute. 

“We also developed an iPad CFO dashboard, which needed a fast response time – it can access 90 Million records in four seconds using Business Objects,” he said.

Innojam : Techniversity : Demojam : TechEd'12 Bangalore

Inno Jam + Techniversity + Demo Jam = SAP TechEd - Bangalore 2012

Wow & Wow..  A mega four day event with around 6 thousand innovators across the world.  And SAP Labs, Bangalore,India Proves we are the best and Young!

As part of initiative started with the event had more than 130 participants in the room, a record for an InnoJam in Bangalore. Also the another record as highest number of female participants was 20.

For the Design Thinking exercise the participants where split into 16 different teams and were given 4 different challenges around the theme of "Urban Governance". All of them presented a cool Design Thinking prototype after approx. 7 hours of going through all the different phases of this methodology.

SAP Labs team and SAP University Alliances has been working on a very special event dedicated to the young university students, The event named as " SAP Techniversity ". There were another record as close to 500 university students present at the event.

 This event as a great initiative by SAP Labs India and SAP University Alliances to fill the gap between the student and their careers.

SAP Co-CEO Bill :Small-Business-Friendly

SAP hosted an SME Summit at its New York office Nov. 29. The summit matched with the release of an SAP survey on small businesses in New York City.

SAP co-CEO Bill McDermott emphasized that even SAP had once been a small business. "Forty years ago, it was five guys. We now have 65,000 employees, but more than 300,000 people are in the ecosystem of SAP all those jobs were built on the backbone of an idea that five guys had," he said. "So if you innovate and stay true to your customer and execute well .. you can run a pretty interesting company."

When asked how the market for SMEs is today, McDermott said he was optimistic and quoted "Entrepreneurs do best when things are at their worst." cloud-based HANA platform really make a change to world run better.

What next in SAP Business ByDesign?

SAP’s Business ByDesign was launched in the year of 2007. And the solutions delivered via future packs and acquired many users and their engagements.Business ByDesign has managed to stand up over 1,400 deployments in 15 countries. And more and more, these deployments are occurring outside of the traditional SME market, which is usually capped at 500 employees. On January 1, 2013, 8,500 users in the Department of Trade and Investment in New South Wales, Australia, will go live on Business ByDesign, making it the largest implementation yet.

With SAP HANA as the platform. This is the major technology innovation on SAP’s 2013 road map for Business ByDesign. In this case, the integration of HANA has little to do with speeding up processes, since Business ByDesign customers already process most of their data in main memory.

Business enhancements

In the area of professional services, new functions include external forecast integration and inter-company automation.In terms of core ERP functionality, Business ByDesign users will get new tools in the area of wholesale and manufacturing, such as a sales kit, subcontracting, batch management, and pricing flexibility.

SAP Business ByDesign can also be deployed for subsidiaries of large enterprises. In what is called a two-tier ERP approach, companies deploying SAP Business Suite can integrate their backend with subsidiaries using ByDesign.

Software development kit (SDK)

It allows companies to get very specific industry functionality in SAP Business ByDesign, which SAP simply doesn’t have the resources to provide. 

Technology innovation

SAP plans to run Business ByDesign on the SAP HANA platform. Next year, it will also move from Microsoft Silverlight to HTML5.

A team of middle school students from Germantown were among six finalists—the only kids on the stage—to show off their mobile app invention during a technology conference in Las Vegas on Last Tuesday.

 

The Germantown Droids—Nikola Bura, 11; Angelo Castro,13; and Jordan Qassis, 12—demonstrated their Food Agent app, which can scan the bar codes on supermarket items, tell you where the food came from and if it could possibility be contaminated

SAP and Oracle wrangle Yet Again

During the keynote, Ellison had said: “I know that SAP has an in-memory machine that is, you know, a little bit smaller than what we offer,” he quipped. “I think it’s called HANA; her name is HANA.”

He added, Oracle was promoting its new Exadata X3 database in-memory machine and taking dead aim at HANA.

Sounds Interesting.!!! But he might not know HANA will replace the whole Oracle Database.
